CDM department arranged a colorful event to celebrate its Freshers' Reception 2024

The Freshers' Reception for first-year students (Session 2022-23) of the Climate and Disaster Management (CDM) Department took place at the premises of Jashore University of Science and Technology on March 2, 2024. The event was joyfully celebrated by welcoming new students and honoring teachers with flowers and crests. Dr. Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, Professor and Chairman of the Climate and Disaster Management department, was present as the chief guest.



Nafisa Nuari Islam, Assistant Professor of the CDM department, chaired the program, while Assistant Professors Hassan Md. Naved Anzum and Md. Arif Chowdhury, along with Lecturers Muhammad Abu Sayed and Naharin Zannat from the CDM department, attended as special guests. The program was facilitated by Nishat Atosi Islam (4th-year student) and Md Sajib Sarker (2nd-year student). 


During the event, the guests delivered their valuable speeches inspiring the students to become valuable assets to the country and work for the welfare of humanity. Along with the speech, the chief guest shared some insightful experiences, motivating the students to practice integrity and perseverance in every aspect of life. However, he emphasized on establishing the CDM department as a role model in dealing with climate change and disasters. Students from each batch also expressed their feelings, thoughts, and experiences during the event.


After the speeches, the felicitation session commenced, during which flowers and crests were presented to the new students and the newly appointed lecturer of the department, Naharin Zannat. Following this, all students and faculty members honored Dr. Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman with flowers and a crest for his appointment as a professor in the Department of Climate and Disaster Management at Jashore University of Science and Technology.


After lunch on the department premises, an entertaining cultural program took place in the afternoon, featuring various performances by students such as dance, song, and poetry recitation. This lively arrangement brought the event to a colorful conclusion.
